Getting Started

System Requirements

The Stock Volatility Box platform consists of two main components, each with its own requirements:

  1. Volatility Box Models for ThinkOrSwim
  2. Web-Based Volatility Box Platform

Below is a breakdown of what you’ll need to use both components effectively.

Volatility Box Models (ThinkOrSwim Integration)

The Volatility Box Indicator Generator produces STUDY.ts files (ThinkOrSwim format) compatible with the ThinkOrSwim platform. To use these models, ensure your system meets the requirements for ThinkOrSwim:

  • Operating Systems:
    • Windows 10 or newer
    • macOS 10.11 or newer
  • Hardware Recommendations (Aligned with ThinkOrSwim Requirements):
    • Processor: Dual-core or higher
    • RAM: Minimum 4 GB (8 GB or more recommended)
    • Display: 1280 x 768 resolution or higher
    • Storage: Sufficient space to download and store indicator files
  • Internet Connection:
A stable broadband connection with a minimum download speed of 4 Mbps. Faster speeds improve data updates and real-time chart performance.
  • ThinkOrSwim Updates:
Always ensure you are running the latest version of ThinkOrSwim to maintain compatibility with the Volatility Box models.

Web-Based Volatility Box Platform

The Stock Volatility Box platform includes tools like the Live Scanner, Indicator Generator, Dashboard, and Short Interest Scanner. This part of the platform is browser-based and does not rely on ThinkOrSwim.

For optimal performance:

  • Browser Requirements: Use a modern, up-to-date browser such as Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or Microsoft Edge.
  • Internet Connection: A stable broadband connection with a download speed of at least 5 Mbps. A faster connection will ensure real-time updates and smooth interactions with features like the Live Scanner.
  • Device Compatibility: Any modern desktop or laptop capable of running an up-to-date browser will suffice. The platform does not require significant processing power or storage.
